Ecohelix approached hitplay at a pivotal moment in their journey: they had built their pilot-scale production facility in Sweden and were gaining early traction, but needed a strong, emotionally resonant story to help raise awareness and secure investment for a full-scale factory.
The science behind their innovation was powerful, yet difficult to communicate visually. With limited footage and no developed narrative structure, they needed a partner who could turn complexity into clarity and create a message that could connect with investors, partners, and sustainability-driven audiences.
Pioneering Sustainability Through Storytelling: Ecohelix’s Journey
Summary

Objectives
Ecohelix needed a hero film that:
-
raised awareness to innovation and technology,
-
communicate highly technical process in an accessible way,
-
highlight the impact and sustainability promise of their work, support investor conversations, and industry events,
-
sit confidently on their website as a core brand asset.
At its centre, the project aimed to show how Ecohelix transforms discarded wood waste into valuable, bio-based polymers used in everyday life, proving that simple science can create meaningful environmental change.

Our Approach
This was hitplay’s first fully sustainability-driven project, and the creative direction was shaped around two guiding principles: make the science understandable and show the positive impact with clarity and emotion.
After researching green-tech storytelling, it quickly became clear that Ecohelix occupied a unique position: a pioneering technology with real-world application, yet almost no human-centred communication.
Our role was to elevate their script into a coherent, modern narrative that blended technology, sustainability, and vision, by bridging the gap between deep science and everyday life.

Execution & Creativity
With only factory footage and a technical script to work from, the creative execution relied on strong editorial craft, such as:
• dynamic speed-ramps to energise factory footage
• unique, non-stock-looking imagery to avoid clichés in sustainability content
• pacing that balanced scientific seriousness with human emotional cues
• a musical tone that felt responsible, warm, and forward-looking
The result was: two polished, documentary-style explainers that felt premium and optimistic while remaining scientifically grounded.

Outcome
The project helped position Ecohelix as a credible, innovative, environmentally responsible pioneer in bio-based polymer production, supporting their mission to scale from pilot facility to full factory
The films have been used:
•on the Ecohelix website as
•at industry fairs and events,
•in investor presentations
•in customer presentations
•as part of their information packages
Deliverables
Ecohelix received two final films:
•a main “purpose and origin” central asset
•a 'technology-focused' version to be used for presentations and detailed conversations
The videos were delivered almost immediately after a light draft-feedback session, and the Ecohelix team responded positively to all creative choices including imagery, tone, pacing, and music.
